The OneLogin Women’s Network hosted the “Survive & Thrive with Women in Tech” virtual event to promote connection, empowerment and inclusion of all OneLogin employees, especially the ones who are facing new and difficult challenges in their personal and professional lives due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Millions of men and women, just like us, are having to adjust to a new way of life. We’re turning our homes into schoolhouses and daycares, we’re stockpiling supplies, and we’re doing our best to make sure our kids, spouses, and parents feel safe and supported. This situation is reshaping our lives in ways we don’t fully understand and if we’re not careful, we will burden ourselves with more than we can possibly do. This is especially true for women, who, right now, are not just working a double shift, but a double double shift with multiple job titles.
We need to rise to the occasion and adapt our workplaces, households, and most importantly, our mindsets, for the better – and for the greater good of men and women everywhere. Let’s all take action and help one another in this challenging but temporary transitional time. Get to know one another on a more personal level and understand the context of your coworkers’ new professional landscape - does your colleague have to help homeschool his/her children now? Does s/he have to put their child down for a nap at a certain time each day? Is your coworker a caretaker for an elderly or sick parent? Show compassion, grace, and empathy and ask how you can help out. And always show support and gratitude in any way you can because that’s how we appreciate, encourage, and empower one another.
“Some commonalities of successful women leaders is they are risk takers, resilient, really good at agility, really good with ambiguity, and they are more likely than men to leverage others for results.”
