Onelogin Acquires Cafesoft- Why it’s Great for Customers and Partners

Last week, OneLogin completed its first acquisition in the company’s history. We acquired Cafésoft, a company that specializes in security middleware to easily integrate identity into heterogeneous web environments. This may be surprising to some - why would OneLogin, a company that specializes in cloud-based identity and access management (IAM), be concerned with a business dedicated to on-premises resource management?

Since 2010 we have empowered thousands of businesses of vastly diverse sizes and functions. We provide solutions for young startups and colossal enterprises alike. And along the way, we have come to realize the importance of our clients’ legacy IT infrastructures.

“What we have learned from companies that have been in business for a long time is that their legacy IT footprint is significant and not going away any time soon. We want to provide these companies with a smooth migration path to the cloud, a hybrid model if you will,” CEO Thomas Pedersen said in a letter to OneLogin customers.

OneLogin is highly specialized in IAM for cloud-based apps that support SAML and SCIM, but we don’t want to stop there. The Cafésoft acquisition is part of a greater effort to add to our service. We want to enable our customers to easily control access to web applications, whether or not they support any identity standards.

Cafésoft’s technology easily plugs into web servers like Apache, Tomcat and IIS, and controls access in real-time using powerful rules and user lookup in Active Directory, LDAP or SQL databases. The technology is available as a standalone offering today, but we have already created a light integration with our cloud-based offering, and will continue to do more.

So there you have it. The Cafésoft acquisition is all about empowering businesses with legacy IT infrastructures, and helping them make the transition to the cloud at their own pace. You can learn more about the acquisition, as well as our new RADIUS and LDAP service endpoints, in our press release.
