As a woman in the cybersecurity industry, it brings me such great joy to bring awareness to International Women’s Day. This week marks International Women’s Day, a global awareness campaign that aims to celebrate the achievement of women all over the world, bring awareness to the cause of gender equality, and shine a spotlight against the gender biases which have plagued women for centuries.
At OneLogin, we have always strived to take an unflinching approach to root out prejudice at our organization, working tirelessly to make OneLogin a place where people of all genders, races, colors, and creeds could feel welcome, supported, and encouraged to work to the best of their ability.
It is, for this reason, we are choosing to celebrate this year’s theme of #ChooseToChallenge. A challenging world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. During the next section, some of the OneLogin team will give us their advice on how the security industry can #ChooseToChallenge.

Kayla Gesek, Product Manager at OneLogin: “I think that for the security industry to #ChooseToChallenge, it is of paramount importance that we address the gender pay gap in our industry. In 2020, women earned 81 cents for every dollar earned by men, and if our industry wants to challenge this it must lead by example and commit to eradicating gender disparity in pay, across all roles and in every region in which they are active.”
Lindsey Shapiro, Sales Enablement Program Manager at OneLogin: “I #ChooseToChallenge inequality because no matter our shape, size, color, personality, experiences, or gender, we are all just people. Our differences should be respected and celebrated— they are what makes us each special!”
Dave Nichols, Technical Trainer at OneLogin says “I #ChooseToChallenge because the currents of our society create massive burdens falling uniquely on women. I cannot stand by and allow half our population to shoulder crushing unnecessary burdens.”
While OneLogin is a company that prides itself on working to achieve equality, they are just that - One company.
