Enterprise Security Concerns Abound with 2016 Graduates and Students

Congratulations to the graduating class of 2016! A new, smart, motivated and energetic workforce is joining the enterprise.

The bad news is that early indications are that, according to Dark Reading’s Emily Johnson, “their security habits are appalling.”

In Johnson’s recent article, “5 Ways to Protect Your Network from New Graduates” she says that “as the workforce becomes increasingly mobile, managing devices and network security is imperative to data security.”

5 Ways to Protect your Network from New Graduates

Johnson offers up 5 ways enterprises can protect their networks from new graduates, including commentary from David Meyer, OneLogin’s VP of Product and Online Business.

  1. Optimize your network to be as flexible and mobile as possible (What perimeter?)
  2. Eliminate the use of passwords where you can and recommend the use of passphrases.
  3. Employ multi-factor authentication and biometrics.
  4. Utilize the cloud for storage and apps.
  5. Education that is specific to and customized for new grads.

What about Securing Current Students and Faculty?

With every graduating class that leaves college, a whole new set of students take their place the university network. Universities must consistently manage an ever-shifting user base each year, providing their students with the app access they need, and removing access for past students as necessary. What is the best way to keep up with this rapidly shifting user base? OneLogin’s Identity Management Solution is great for managing faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents and vendors across all applications, and across all devices.
