We are excited to announce our new monthly podcast: Cybersecurity Secrets. It’s a monthly podcast for everyone - from cybersecurity experts to the tech rookie and everyone in between. Our host, Dave Nichols will bring us updates on the latest cybersecurity threats, data breaches, ransomware attacks, and tips for how you can secure your organization in an increasingly risky time.
Our first episode is a discussion between our own CEO and President of OneLogin, Brad Brooks, and Theresa Payton – former White House Chief Information Officer and one of the nation’s leading experts in cybersecurity and IT strategy.
In this podcast, they explore:
- Cybersecurity trends
- The impact on organizations across industries
- Practical steps every organization should take in response
Cyberattacks have increased by 300 percent since January 2020, and we’re just halfway through 2021. In fact, experts predict we will lose close to $6 trillion in losses across industries this year due to cyberattacks. How effective is your cybersecurity strategy at addressing these risks?
As noted by Theresa Payton, “In the security industry, we don’t do ourselves any favors by using the terms identity access management, user authorization, user access, and access controls somewhat interchangeably. We need to step back and talk about how different solutions help address security and privacy needs by thinking about the user story.”
As Payton underscored, this approach is critical in light of the international epidemic with ransomware and the evolution of authentication and identity – and cybercrime – happening at an AI level.
She also emphasized that no company is safe from such threats: “It’s not just a particular digital asset or information – your entire business process can be overcome or overtaken by these approaches.”
Payton adds, “This is where technology can be your friend. Let’s stop blaming users and look at using emerging technologies to take the burden off them.”
Listen to the podcast for a rich discussion that gets at the heart of today’s cybercrime approaches and their success. Brooks and Payton talk through the following:
- New concerns and considerations in the age of AI-powered business processes and cyberattacks
- Core elements of an effective IT Infosecurity playbook
- The user experience and its role in effective security
- Proven ways to change the culture and incent people to engage with security
- How to build a strong business case for improving your IT Infosecurity infrastructure
